This fall has also brought new opportunities on the tech side of our work. Thomas has begun a partnership with NMI in Waterloo, working closely with Josh and the team to explore innovative approaches in embedded systems and IoT technology.

The goal of this partnership is to take Thomas’s background in engineering and combine it with NMI’s strengths in research and development to explore projects that are practical, accessible, and community-focused. It’s about building technology that makes sense for real people — not just for industry.

We’re excited about where these collaborations will lead. For us, partnerships like this are a reminder that food sovereignty solutions don’t exist in isolation. They’re built at the intersections of community needs, technical innovation, and strong relationships.
